Looking for Japanese-Style Wedding Favors

When many people say they want an Asian theme for their wedding favors, they may wind up choosing Japanese style wedding favors. This is because the Japanese style lends itself well to many types of weddings, due to the clean lines and minimalism that we usually associate with great Japanese design.  You have many options actually when you choose Japanese style wedding favors to give away during your wedding. You can buy simple Japanese style spoons (the type you spoon up soup or porridge with), have them wrapped in some nice gauzy-type material with a bow tied at the top, then attach name cards to them. Voila! You have a nice simple give-away that emphasizes Japanese style with a modern twist.

You could provide a small set of sake cups in a box made specially for wedding favors or cool groomsmen gifts, with one box going to each guest or perhaps each family. Include a rustic bamboo placemat and that should complete the Japanese style effect you are looking for. A dining set is a nice idea for wedding favors, if it includes Japanese style plates and bowls along with ivory chopsticks. (Ivory chopsticks are preferred by the Japanese because eventually they become a pleasant amber hue from repeated usage.) If you prefer other types of chopsticks like bamboo or metal, that is also appropriate for the Japanese wedding favors theme you are observing.

If you have access to someone who makes very good chocolate (both white and dark), and they can personalize the boxes or covers, that is a great idea for wedding giveaways. Not Japanese enough for you? Then why not ask if the chocolate maker can produce the chocolate in some readily identifiable Japanese design? Chocolate is always acceptable as wedding favors anyway. A cute idea for Japanese wedding favors is to have an artist create little kimonos that act as placecards or placecard holders for the reception. It should be expected that the guests will ask if they can take these home, just like in bars where guests take home the little paper parasols from their drinks.

Have you ever seen cloth wallets? They are quite handy actually since they do not crease like leather wallets, are light, and can be made from Japanese-style synthetic fabrics that can be easily washed and dried. As wedding favors, you will find these readily appreciated by all who receive them. Japanese green tea is all the rage nowadays due to its reputed health benefits. You could either bag it yourself in individual packets for each guest as a complimentary sample or even as bridesmaid gifts, or have a professional do it for you. If you get lucky, the green tea supplier might give away these packets for free in exchange for letting them place their name and contact information at the back of the packets. Even if the supplier does not do that, it feels good anyway being able to give something that is healthy for your guests.

Whatever type of Japanese-style wedding favors you give out, make sure they are of the best quality. That way, your guests will treasure the gifts and the effort you took in choosing the favors for each respective guest.
